Las Gatas was created by Nikola Steer and Sophie Luxton, two Toronto dancers trained in a variety of genres. They both shared a love for Latin and African-inspired movement and when Nikola's hip-hop-ingenue-discovers-burlesque met Sophie's ballroom-dancer-turned-exotic-showgirl, sparks flew! With this unique combination at their fingertips, Nikola and Sophie envisioned a dance troupe unlike anything they had seen before - a mix of exotic dance styles focused on the celebration and expression of female fire.

Sophie teaches a wildly popular exotic dance class series and has been featured on Life Network's Sexy Girl. Nikola pioneered BOOM Chika BOOM, a breakthrough class series blending Broadway, Burlesque and go go dance styles, and she has been profiled on TVOntario's Studio2. Both Nikola and Sophie have been featured on MuchMusic's Fandemonium series and are dynamic performers. Las Gatas dancers are also successful teachers and popular solo performers.
